Preparing you and your body for labour and birth.

Here to support you during your pregnancy, while also preparing your mind and body for labour and birth.

How can osteopathy help during pregnancy?

Our role during your prenatal period is to support your body as it transforms throughout your pregnancy. Your body will undergo a lot of changes as it manages the new loads and strains that come with your growing bub. Our treatments focus on addressing any tension that can develop, managing any existing aches or pains, and keeping you mobile and feeling good! We focus on the whole body, allowing us to give your body the space it needs to adapt throughout the remainder of your pregnancy.

Regardless of your birth preferences or birth outcome, between vaginal or c-section, having osteopathic treatment during your pregnancy is beneficial and recommended!

Some of the conditions we can help you with during your pregnancy are:

  • Lower back pain

  • Sacroiliac pain

  • Sciatica (pain referring down the back of your leg)

  • Pelvic girdle pain

  • Pubic symphysis pain

  • Hip pain

  • Rib pain

  • Upper back pain

  • Postural pain

  • Headaches

As well as being here to help you with any pregnancy related pains, we also help prepare you, your body and your pelvic floor for birth.

How can an osteopath help with birth preparation?

During the birth process for a vaginal birth, your pelvis moves and adapts to allow your baby to descend and move through the birth canal. Ensuring your pelvis is moving freely allows you to create the needed space for your little one to navigate the descent and journey through the birth canal.

Tension or imbalances through ligaments, muscles, joints and fascia directly influence the movement available through your pelvis, and can impact or limit the adaptability and space in the pelvis during labour and birth.

Releasing existing stress and tightness in your body, particularly your pelvis and hips, helps improve your body’s ability to cope with changes and ensure you’re in the best position for labour and birth.

An important part of your pelvis, and a key element to birth, is your pelvic floor. The pelvic floor provides vital support throughout pregnancy and plays a crucial role during birth. While the it isn’t responsible for pushing the baby out, we need to be able to connect, lengthen and coordinate with the pelvic floor so it can aid in the birthing process and allow your baby to move through the birth canal.

Some ways we can support you and prepare for labour and birth are:

  • Creating space within the pelvis

  • Active birthing positions

  • Education on breathing techniques

  • Perineal massage

  • Tips to minimise the risk of perineal tearing

  • Education on stages of labour

  • Connecting to and relaxing the pelvic floor

  • Understanding pain during labour

  • Pain management strategies

Hi, I’m Fiona.

I’ve always loved working with women and had a special passion for supporting them through their pre and post natal periods.

Now a mum myself, I know firsthand the physical and emotional journey of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. I want to create a space where women feel heard and supported through pregnancy, while also receiving expert, compassionate care and advice to physically and mentally prepare them for labour and birth.

Experiencing pregnancy, labour and birth has given me a deep understanding of not only what our body’s go through physically, but also what support and education is missing to best prepare us for labour and birth. Beyond hands-on treatment, I take the time to help you understand what's happening in your body at each stage, so you feel informed and empowered. I believe birth preparation and postnatal care shouldn't be a one-off appointment, and am committed to providing continuity of care for my clients throughout their whole journey, from planning to conceive to early pregnancy through to postnatal recovery and beyond.

My care doesn't stop once baby arrives. I am also here to help with postnatal recovery, rebuild strength, and navigate the physical changes that come with life after birth - from carrying and feeding a newborn to finding yourself again.

Being part of my clients support system is at the heart of what I do.

Whether you're preparing for your first birth, recovering from your last, or simply want expert, compassionate care through this season of life, I am here to walk alongside you.
